Top Reasons to Go to Albuquerque
· For
a walk down historic Route 66, drive up the Camino Real (N. 4th St.) or south
into Barelas where you'll glimpse vintage shops and taquerias with hand-painted
signage in idiosyncratic script and blazing-hot colors. Be sure to pause for a
bite at Red Ball, Barelas Coffeehouse, Cecilia’s Café, or Mary & Tito's.
· To
visit the spectacularly embellished Pueblo Deco KiMo Theatre, in the center of
downtown right on old Route 66.
· To
walk or bike the Paseo del Bosque along the Rio Grande. The scenery along the
16-mi trail is a menagerie of cottonwoods, migrating birds, and the
ever-present river rippling quietly at your side.
· To
experience the National Hispanic Cultural Center, a one-of-a-kind music and
arts venue.
· To
witness the sunset over the volcanoes in the Western desert—a brilliant pink
flood that creeps over the valley making its way east to illuminate the Sandias
before disappearing.
· Last
but not least to attend the 2013 NAAL Annual Meeting.

Albuquerque Weather
Time and time again, you'll ask someone
who has relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico why they decided to move
here, and you'll hear the response: “the weather.” Many visitors cannot believe
how many completely beautiful days Albuquerque enjoys year round. We bask in
310 days of sunshine, blessed with a mild, dry climate and four distinctly
beautiful seasons. Very low humidity means that even when temperatures rise,
summer is always comfortable, and our sunny winters are comparatively mild. Our
average annual rainfall is about 9 in. and the average relative humidity is
only 44%.
Be aware that low humidity and lots
of sunshine means visitors need to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water as
well as using lotion and sunblock for protection. You might consider bringing a
water bottle to the meeting.
The average temperature for the
winter season is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The average temperature for January is
47 High / 23 Low.
